A Day to Write Home About..
So today turned out to be a wonderful day. I took Cora with me to court and apparently she charmed the pants off ‘em. The bailiff came down from the bench and gave her a sticker while we waited, the clerk commented on how pretty she was and told me I could take Cora outside to let her stretch if I needed, and she’d hold my place in the que, plus the judge even smiled at her a few times. (when her “ariel” doll got a little loud swimming and singing a few times)
Anyway, it was a very easy court experience. The judge was a lot nicer than the police, that’s for sure. He made some nice comments about my driving record, and gave me the deferred disposition with no hesitation. As long as I get no tickets in Watauga for 30 days, it’s off my record! And the whole cost (including court, ticket, admin fees, etc.) was 25 dollars less than I budgeted!
Then this afternoon, we got a REALLY nice surprise in a very generous financial gift made by my parents. They’d had a good year and wanted to help us. I must say, Lance and I are EXTREMELY blessed to have such wonderful parents on both sides. We get so much support in so many ways from the grandparents. I hope I can be the same way for my children someday.
Then, because we have events happening on Cora’s actual birthday (which is Thursday), we decided to celebrate Cora’s birthday tonight. She is having her birthday party this Saturday, but we always like to have an intimate family outing for the kids’ birthdays with just the four of us as well, usually on the actual birthday, since the parties never occur on them.
My daughter being almost 3, her idea of the perfect restaurant was chicken nuggets, followed by a vanilla ice cream at McDonalds. We then bought her a bike for her birthday, since she loves to be active and outside and this way both her and brother can practice their pedaling together.
Overall, a rewarding way to spend a Tuesday!
